Biography

Beatrix B眉dy (pronouns: any) is an Associate Professor and an Academic Access and Excellence Fellow in the School of Communication and Culture. 聽She teaches natural science, health & wellness, social science, as well as Creative Communities courses.

Beatrix B眉dy is a pioneer of neuroinclusive teaching, being the first author who used the word 鈥渘eurodiversity鈥 in an American Chemistry Society Journal (Embracing Neurodiversity by Increasing Learner Agency in Nonmajor Chemistry Classes, J. Chem. Educ., November 18, 2021). She has a broad area of research interests and creative practice that ranges from neuroinclusive teaching and intellectual community building to textile and dye chemistry. She authored the Laboratory Manual for her textiles and dyes course. She also writes fiction, excerpts of her book, Confessions of Communist Youth were published by Hypertext magazine.

Beatrix loves to spark academic joy 鈥 teaching, building curriculum, creating educational content, and giving talks. She is the Winner of the Columbia College Excellence in Teaching Award and the Faculty Partner Award.
